Welsh Boat Show, Carmarthen: Press Release
Welsh Boat Show, Carmarthen: Press Release

The Welsh Boat Show receives a positive statement of support from Rhodri Glyn Thomas - Minister for Tourism.

Welsh Assembly Government Tourism Minister, Rhodri Glyn Thomas, said: "With 750 miles of coastline that includes 44 Blue Flag beaches, five Blue Flag marinas and 46 Green Flag beaches Wales’ standing as a tourism destination for a wide range of water sports is growing - and that includes sailing. In recent years the Celtic Goodwill Raid has helped foster Wales’ image in this activity and our partners, Wales Water Sports has been deeply involved in marketing such activities in both the UK and overseas and has a website at www.waleswatersports.co.uk.

"The Welsh Boat Show - which I am delighted to say is the product of the entrepreneurial imagination and hard work of two Welshmen - is another event in the tourism calendar that demonstrates the public interest in this pursuit and will show to the rest of the UK and representatives of other seafaring nations, what Welsh boatbuilding and Wales have to offer. I wish the venture every success and hope that it does attract the number of visitors, sell the boats, equipment and other merchandise its exhibitors display and bring added revenues to the local tourism economy. "The Showground at Nant-y-Ci, is a splendid venue and I hope that the Welsh Boat Show achieves the level of success that will bring it back time and again."
